Many couples wonder if seeking counsel means there is something fundamentally wrong in their relationship—should it be this hard? But intimate relationships ARE hard. Like metal detectors, they reveal our brittle, wounded places and blind spots. Most of us don’t have great role models, let alone communication skills for navigating conflict and repairing disagreements. These are areas of specialty for AOC, and your willingness to pursue help reflects both courage and commitment.

It’s a worthwhile investment—Is there anything more valuable than a thriving relationship?

What to expect as we’re getting started

We begin with the proposition that your partner is not “the problem.” When we have chronically unmet needs, we simply see our partner’s shortcomings and transgressions more readily than our own. Truth is, every relationship is a co-created dynamic, and we are each responsible for our part. We can’t change our beloved. But we can change ourselves and we can change together. By looking inward and attending to our own unhealed parts and “relationship poisons,” we become healthier. When our partner does the same in good faith, our connection improves dramatically, and we begin to see each other as allies and teammates. Growth is incremental; we start by celebrating small gains and building on these. Over time, positive practices become second nature.

Everything you share in our sessions is confidential; your feelings of safety are paramount. We’ll begin by getting to know one another and exploring your love story. You don’t need to have everything figured out—that’s the healing work we’ll do together. You’ll leave your first session with practical tools, a new perspective, and take-home resources.

How long does it take?

Every couple is different. Some find meaningful progress after a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. Coach Ingrid will discuss goals and frequency during your first appointment and tailor your sessions to your availability and budget.
