About Art of Connection

Why Art of Connection ?

The name Art of Connection reflects Ingrid Skoog’s core ethos that connection is foundational to healing. Primary is the trust-connection that builds between client and counselor; next, the deepening self-connection that guides personal growth; and finally, the secure connection to each other that anchors all important relationships. All these are fostered at AOC, along with the “art” of approaching life’s challenges with creativity and empathy.

Whether you’re looking to repair disconnected relationships, improve your communication, or grow resiliency in the face of heartbreak, anxiety, or trauma, Coach Ingrid is here to empower you with radical acceptance and evidence-based tools to navigate through life’s transitions. Art of Connection Counseling offers marriage and relationship counseling, individual and communication coaching, and healing family circles to those seeking sustainable and purposeful transformation.

The AOC Approach

Pain is growth waiting to happen.

When we embrace pain, shame, and unresolved trauma rather than hiding, we open the doors to growth and profound healing. AOC is client-centered and client-led: You are the expert of your own life, and you set the pace of our sessions.

Whether addressing unmet needs in your relationship or your personal life, Coach Ingrid will walk beside you, guiding you in awakening your inner wisdom, sharing resources, and inspiring confidence to trust and act. By compassionately mirroring both your strengths and the blind spots that are often hard to see, she aims to give you the gift of yourself.

Ingrid weaves together a diverse array of healing threads, including mindfulness, the science of bonding and attachment, Gestalt and somatic practices, needs awareness (Nonviolent communication), creative problem-solving, and above all, personal experience.

Welcoming YOU and all others

Art of Connection Counseling welcomes all couples, individuals, and families regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or identity, age, or religion. It’s an honor serving a diverse clientele and providing a safe, healing space, whatever your beliefs or values.
AOC specializes in heterosexual, same sex, queer, and other relationship styles.
Besides diverse relationships, we invite clients experiencing the full spectrum of emotions, including the hard ones: anger, grief, and despair.

Guiding principles

Acceptance

We begin where you are today. By embracing what is, you free your energy away from judging, resisting, and protecting unhealthy patterns and towards powerful transformation instead. Where you are now doesn’t limit where you can be.

Trust

Part of acceptance is trusting that where you are now, as a couple, individual, or family, makes perfect sense given your existing resources and life experiences. You’re exactly where you need to be, making the best of what you’ve got. With expanded capacity and resources, the future you long for is within reach.

Intention

Whatever we focus on grows. Learn to refocus your attention purposefully on strengths and resources rather than on the negative stuff your brain is predisposed to notice. With intentional redirection towards the good, you feel more empowered and grateful and less hopeless.

Love

The clinical term is “unconditional positive regard,” but whatever you call it, loving care is the basis of all meaningful relationships. Whether the relationship between counselor and client, the relationship you have with yourself (your perceived lovability and worthiness), or the relationship

It’s worth it

Whenever you face hard things and overcome them, you enhance your capacity, resilience, and trust in yourself and each other. You feel less stuck and overwhelmed. New possibilities emerge. It’s never too late to edit your story… and you’re worth it.
