Feel more connected, peaceful,
& better able to face challenges together.
We all long for home sweet home, a safe haven, but homelife can be challenging and uncomfortable if we have unresolved hurts, misunderstandings, and resentments. The beauty of families is their multifaceted diversity, but this is also what makes them complicated to balance. How do we harmonize the personalities, needs, and dreams of each member? The Family Circles Process aims to create an atmosphere of care where all feel heard, honored, accepted, and secure. With 20+ years experience as a Communication Coach and Community Mediator, Ingrid Skoog provides a roadmap for nurturing open dialogue and better understanding, healing interpersonal strife, and creating a safe space where we can be our best selves as individuals and teammates.
Using strengths-based relationship skills, healing conversations, and the 3-step
Challenges/Regrets/Appreciations Practice, she helps resolve common familial
difficulties including:
Coach Ingrid begins with the premise that most everything we need to know, we DID
learn in kindergarten: the basics like using kind words, taking turns, valuing others wants in addition to your own, appreciating more than complaining, and co-creating an environment of harmony and peace. Before facilitating a circle with all members, she starts by interviewing each person separately so she can identify his/her core unmet needs, stories, and aspirations. She then introduces the Compassionate
Communication (NVC) approach where all are taught to focus on heart-centered
speaking using feelings and needs. When all are comfortable, she brings everyone
together for an intentional, facilitated talking circle where members take turns expressing needs and receiving “heart listening.” Once family members trust there’s
space for THEIR voices to be heard, they can let down their guard to hear others. Over time we establish a new way of interacting that prioritizes the language of needs, creative requests, and reciprocal expression and listening.
In addition to providing communication skills, Coach Ingrid will highlight somatic practices like awareness of tone, body language, soft startups, and calming techniques that help family members “tune in” to each other to avoid triggering conversations. You’ll leave with practical tools, a fresh outlook, and take-home resources. Gain new appreciation for one another’s gifts, strengths, and raw spots. Feel more connected, peaceful, and better able to face challenges together.
Every family is different. Some find meaningful progress after a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. Coach Ingrid will discuss goals and frequency during your first appointment and tailor your sessions to your availability and budget.
